Run for a Cause 2019 will be hosting Ballarat’s first half marathon in a decade. The course designed by Julian Spence, international marathon runner and owner of The Running Company, will take the runners through some of Ballarat’s hidden running spots over a 21km course.
Ballarat is the home of distance running with the likes of Steve Moneghetti achieving the record time run for a half marathon in 1991. This record led to a running track being named after the star around Lake Wendouree; which was used in last year’s Run for a Cause event.
Run for a Cause, held on Sunday November 17, will raise money for The Ballarat Foundation and charities supporting early childhood, to assist local children to start primary school ready to prosper. With over $30,000 being raised last year there are hopes to double that in the events 2nd year.
Participants who wish to push themselves, beat their personal best or try something new will have access to training plans leading up to the event. These plans will be designed by Spence and will provide participants with a guide of how to prepare for the half marathon.
Entries for the half marathon and other Run for a Cause events will be open in August.
