On November 17th, we will all be heading down to Victoria Park to participate in Ballarat’s biggest fun run event, Run For A Cause. As the name suggests, it’s all for a cause and this year the cause will focus on early childhood issues in Ballarat.
Recent statistics have found that one in 5 children in our community start school disadvantaged in at least one area of development. The Ballarat Foundation is committed to helping programs and charities who alleviate the disadvantage of children in the Ballarat community. We have partnered with several charity groups for Run For a Cause, with funds raised going to these programs. Participants will be able to choose which charity partner they donate to at registration.
Eureka Mums was established in early 2014 and does fantastic work for children and families in Ballarat. They collect, sort and redistribute donated items such as nursery equipment, clothing and nappies for disadvantaged children. Last year, Eureka Mums supported almost 2,000 children in our community, operating out of a rented warehouse in Sebastopol and run almost entirely by volunteers. Funds raised from Run For A Cause will go towards operations costs, buying new nursery items and equipment for their Tools for Schools program.
